Since I’ve changed my eating habits I can’t believe how much better I feel. Eating smaller meals every 3 hours really helps keep my energy up through the long training hours. It’s so much work with all the food preparation and packing a little cooler every day before I leave the house but at least I’m never hungry and I’m eating the foods that my body needs.
In the last couple of weeks I’ve had so much fun training with different people. I truly believe I can learn from anyone and then choose some of the elements that apply to me.
While in Montreal for my birthday weekend I had a blast training with all my TKD friends. I love it when we get together. The atmosphere in the room is always positive. Not only was the training awesome they surprised me with a huge birthday gift and dinner. I love these guys.

Mr. LeGrow and I have been working super hard as well. Mr. LeGrow went to the Umpire Course in New York and I love it when he comes back from seminars since he is always pumped with new drills and a new excitement for competing. I get the benefit of his enthusiasm 🙂 Learning all the new rules and proceedures for the World Championships is key in our training. It’s so important to keep up with all the changes since the judging in TKD has evolved over the years. Even though Mr. LeGrow is my instructor he is also a competitor so it’s an unusual relationship. I wish I could help him the way he helps me.
While Mr. LeGrow was in NY I was invited by Mr. Lim to train with Mr. Joel Denis. It was fun being in a different dojang with 10 senior black belt adults that I haven’t trained with in years but it was like no time had passed. I’ve known all of them since I was 3 years old so it was very comfortable 🙂 It was great seeing them again and training together. It’s amazing how you get to know so many people through different trainings, seminars and competitions.

The hardest part of my training is finding women to spar with in Ontario. I spar men all the time but I need to train with woman on a regular basis since the style is a bit different. Mr. LeGrow has made arrangements for me to spar Mrs. Cabanas and Lisa Penny every second Friday night. We had our first session last night and it was awesome. We are all working towards the same goal so we take it seriously and appreciate each others strengths so we can try new things.

Track has been going incredibly well as well. Each throwing event is getting better and better. I redid my javelin testing last week and I was pleased that every component of the test improved since the testing done in November. I am also now on a weight training program so I feel really strong. Bill has videotaped some of our throws and that’s such a great tool to learn from. It’s amazing how you think your body is doing one thing but then you see yourself on video and you see something very different. Shot and discus are also going well! I feel like I am making progress in each event so practices are really satisfying and exciting for me. I plan on competing in an indoor track meet for shot put next month. I think the more time I have in the circle, the better. Unfortunately there are no indoor meets for javelin or discus.
It’s definitely been a stressful few weeks with final exams and summatives and trying to fit all the training in as well but without the training I know I would have been even more stressed.
