Great Sunday Black Belt Training

Ever since the competition in Connecticut 2 weeks ago I’ve had a really bad round of Bronchitis and have been on antibiotics so I haven’t done any training until today.

From 12:30 to 1:30 I spent time with one student, training for a tournament that’s in a few weeks. I love these sessions since you can accomplish so much with the one-on-one attention. There are several tournaments coming up so I’m sure all his hard work will pay off. He is a wonderful student to work with I look forward to being part of his progression.

Then I trained in Mr. LeGrow’s special Black Belt training that he holds one Sunday a month. The first two hours we worked strictly on patterns. I still found breathing a challenge with my bronchitis and my body felt really weak and exhausted but it felt great to go through my patterns.

Right after the two hours of patterns we immediately went into two hours of sparring drills and then free sparring.

We are so lucky that Mr. LeGrow always invites people to these training. Since they are so beneficial people come from all over. It’s great to have all these amazing drills that he provides, but getting to practice them on different people really makes a huge difference.

Today we had two guests from Montreal, 1 from Cornwall and 2 from a Karate/Kickboxing club here in Ottawa. I absolutely loved the training since it was a challenge for me to spar with two other high calibre women that I’ve never met before. Both of them were tall, or even a lot taller than me, so it was a great chance to try different things and to learn how to spar these different body types. I really hope to work with them again sometime since we can always learn from each other. It was also great to see my friends from Montreal as well.
