Mr. Legrow continues to give his amazing weekend trainings. I absolutely love them since it also gives me more training partners. I’m so thankful that people travel from Montréal, Brossard and Longueuil to train with us. The trainings are also extra special since they are for about 4-5 hours long so you really have time to get into drills, try different things and start to see an improvement.
In the summer, we all have a little more energy and time to do bigger and more intense trainings. Some of us are training for the World Cup and I am training for Nationals to go to the next World Championships in Italy.
We started off with leg and hip strengthening exercises for patterns and then to work on our power in our arms, we used targets as resistance as we did blocks and strikes so we really felt the ‘impact’.
He worked on all patterns and then Alex and I worked on our 3rd degree patterns while everyone else had a break.
I had a learning experience with my puffer :P. My puffer has been running low, so I have been taking more puffs to get the right dosage and result. I just got my puffer renewed and by habit I took the same amount as before. Turns out, it was a little too much! I was slightly concerned at one point just because my heart was racing and my pulse was faster than usual. So I slowed down a bit and my body eventually went back to normal. I will make sure I take less next time lol.
After a few minute break we started sparring drills while we kept changing partners.
Then it was time for free sparring. We were all beyond exhaustion at that point. I knew what I wanted my body to do but it just didn’t want to listen to me lol. Somehow I was able to push through it. I just didn’t want to waste the opportunity to spar with different people.
During the meditation at the end Mr. LeGrow wanted us to think about what we overcame or what we were proud of during the training.
Driving to the training today I was a bit nervous about free sparring the two men who were on the National Team last year. They are both a lot bigger, taller and stronger than me. I was pleased that I kept to my own sparring style and was able to get through it. It’s important to always challenge yourself with new people. I realize I have a big jump into the adult division but after sparring days like today it just gets me excited to train harder and get smarter.
I also had a good planning session with Mr. Legrow and we started to work on a schedule that will blend with my university schedule as well as work schedule. It’s going to be so much more challenging than when I was just in high school with no job on top of it but I’m certainly excited. It just won’t be the same way that I’ve trained in the past.
Thank you Mr. LeGrow for another amazing session and thank you to everyone who came to train. We all have things to work on during the week and hopefully we’ll see you all again next weekend 🙂
Thanks again mom for taking all the pictures. I know everyone appreciates them.
