My “Moment”

I was in Montreal over the weekend, staying with my best friend Steph. She’s a personal trainer and the last night that I was there, she worked.  She taught 2 spinning classes and then a Cross Fit class  as well. I decided to join in on the fun! 🙂 My friend Maude from Team Canada joined me for Steph’s first spinning class as well.

It was so much fun! The room was really cool because they turn the lights off and then have a disco ball in the middle and played really loud music. The atmosphere was amazing. It was my first time back in a couple months cross training and I realized how much I absolutely missed it. I had a huge smile on my face the whole time. I love spinning classes so I was really excited.

Then I time to stretch and relax with Maude before I did the Cross Fit class. It was nice getting to catch up with her.  🙂  You create these strong bonds with National Team mates so it is always special to get to spend more time with them. We have become really good friends.

Then it was off to my first Cross Fit class. I have done this type of workout many times, but at parks or with the equipment I can find. I was REALLY looking forward to using the official TRX equipment!  There were 6 stations working different muscles. I adore this type of training so I had a blast! We got to use TRX, which I had never used before (I use swings at the park) we did box jumps,  used kettle bells, did squats, abs, and reverse pull ups. I also got to try using ropes for the first time! That was exciting for me because I had always wanted to try. They are AWESOME.

I have been having emotional ups and downs ever since my mom was in the hospital so getting back into my training has been hard for me. Tournaments are coming up soon and I want to make sure I am ready for it.

During the spinning class,  I had a “moment” that caught me off guard. I had a mental switch that turned on and I felt a good overwhelming feeling inside. I couldn’t stop smiling and I felt unstoppable. 🙂 For the first time in a while, I felt like myself again.  For the first time, I felt ready and excited for the year to come and my heart felt ready for the next big journey and adventure.  It is one of the most special and important moments for me to have when setting big goals like a World Championship.
