Last night I was humbled to have so many people attend a fundraiser for my journey to the ITF TKD World Championships in Italy this May. The event was held at the Barrhaven Legion #641 and about 100 people attended for the dinner/show. As I looked around the room it felt very surreal seeing some people that I didn’t even know but they were there supporting me.
Darrell Bartraw organized the entire thing. I really don’t know when that man sleeps. He is involved in every event in the city. About a month ago we received an email from him saying that this event was happening in my honour and all I had to do was sell tickets. How kind is that?!
Loblaws (Barrhaven) was extremely generous and donated all the food and then Darrell, his wife Cindy and small team cooked all the food for the night. BBQ chicken with rice, vegetables, salad, dinner rolls and some amazing cannoli’s. Thankfully the Legion has a wonderful group of volunteers to help make nights like this possible. The volunteers set up all the tables, served the food and did all the dishes. Thank you SOOOOO much!
Five hilarious comedians from Absolute Comedy came and gave a show that lasted almost 2 hours. Each comedian was very different so there was something for everyone. It was great hearing all the laughter in the room.
I asked people to sign my banner that I’m taking to Italy with me. When I got home I read all the very special messages and it made me feel excited knowing how much support I have. Each and everyone of these people will be on my World Champion Journey 🙂
It was also really special for my mom to be able to just relax and enjoy the night knowing that Danno Saunt was taking photos all night for her.
Another special thing for me last night was being able to unveil my new ‘Believe’ marketing material. This banner and my believe products are geared for my speaking engagements at schools, clubs, businesses and sports teams. I will write all about how this happened in another post since that is also very important to me and deserves it’s own post 🙂
