June 2017 – Kayla Maduk WE DAY Keynote Speaker

Emily Carr Middle School Testimonial

Kayla Maduk was a fantastic, passionate guest speaker. Her story is very interesting and inspiring. She really connected well with the students and was happy to answer all of their questions. She connected taekwondo, something not everyone participates in, with many different aspects of life that can be more relatable to them. Her teaching of taekwon-do itself was very engaging and fun. Kayla clearly enjoyed being a part of their learning and would give constant encouragement and visual aids. Her skill and teaching ability are clear and are present in all activities. The detailed explanations were helpful and could easily be understood.

She had fun exercises in the warm up and the main drills included fun drills with kicking punching and mental discipline and control. Kayla also gave them difficulty levels to try so as to give all skill levels a chance to enjoy themselves as some aspects of taekwon-do like strength flexibility, and speed are not all easily obtained by everyone. She took the opinion of the class into consideration when forming drills and would ask if they are enjoying the drill and truly revolve the exercises around the learning safety and fun of the student. She was fantastic and we here at E.C.M.S appreciate her time.

To Whom it May Concern,

Kayla Maduk is a remarkable young woman. She presented the keynote address at the 2012 and 2013 Ottawa Jewish Community School ‘s ‘Girls Night In’ event. The event was in support of Plan Canada’s ‘Because I am a Girl’ campaign. The focus of the event was to raise awareness and support for girls in developing countries, as well as fostering strong leadership skills for young girls. This event was attended by over 60 girls in grades four to six, as well as their mothers, aunts, grandmothers, and other special women in their lives. With the help of Kayla, we have raised over $1000 for Plan Canada.

Kayla’s keynote address was the highlight of the event. I had the pleasure of working with Kayla prior to the event, and she is a true professional. She was in regular contact to ask if there were particular topics she should cover to personalize her program for the students. Kayla’s address was an inspiration to all. She delivered many strong messages to the girls about following their dreams, and setting high goals for themselves. Kayla is a very confident and enthusiastic speaker, and she is passionate about inspiring and motivating others. Below is a testimony from a mother and daughter, who were particularly touched by the keynote address:

“Kayla Maduk is an exceptional young woman who truly motivated us. We heard her speak at a Girls Night In event at my school supporting Because I Am a Girl campaign. Kayla spoke to us about her determination and drive to be a world champion in Tae Kwon Do. Kayla proved that with a goal, hard work, perseverance, and surrounding yourself with people who believe in you, it is possible to achieve any dream. Kayla encouraged all of us to strive to accomplish our goals no matter how big or how small they are.

We would highly recommend Kayla to speak to any audience. She was energetic, confident, and well-spoken. Kayla used visual aids to help get her message across. Students really look up to Kayla because she herself is so young and yet so accomplished. The adults in the room were just as engaged and completely inspired by Kayla’s accomplishments. We hope Kayla has the opportunity to speak and motivate many more groups in the future.”

– Mother/daughter who attended the ‘BecauseBecause I am A Girl’ program.

Kayla’s motivational messages are of the upmost importance, particularly for youth today. She is a positive role model who inspires individuals of all ages. I would highly recommend Kayla for any speaking engagement.

Sincerely, Deanna Coghlin Grade 5 Teacher, Ottawa Jewish Community School
